Dewan Rakyat: 6,834 teachers for excellence

A TOTAL of 6,834 teachers have been selected for the Excellent Teachers Programme as of May.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Razali Ismail said of the number, 4,615 were graduate teachers, 1,669 headmasters and 362 principals.

The rest are teachers from Sabah.

"A committee monitors their activities and sets guidelines for the programme," he said in reply to a question by Datuk Juslie Ajirol (BN-Libaran).

Razali said those with at least three years of teaching experience were chosen for the programme.
